MY PURPOSE
Most people do not like pain or not being able to move. This is a place for you to learn tools you can use to reduce pain and improve function. As a music therapist, I trained to teach people at all levels and learned to look at behaviors and change them to something sensible. I think this has made me a better physical therapist. I work to make things as simple as possible and as a result, my patients can do exercises or techniques to take care of their own physical problems. All of the techniques I use have strong science behind why they work. I have simplified how to do these techniques to make them easy to understand. As a result of using some of these exercises, I am happy to report that I have had no back pain since 2000. This is impressive because I have been in five car accidents (four of them as a passenger), broken a leg, and had back surgery. I have had fun helping people reduce their pain and improve their function such as in the pain reduction section.

WORK SETTINGS AS A PHYSICAL THERAPIST
Working in a variety of settings in the healthcare field since 1993 has helped me learn all kinds of techniques and exercises to reduce pain and improve function. My job sites have included working in my own private practice, Independence Through Physical Therapy; inpatient hospitals; adult day-care programs; skilled nursing facilities; and home health. Currently, I work for a local home health organization. Taking many courses after graduate school has helped me to continue my education to help people reduce pain and improve function. One of the most enjoyable experiences was studying in Germany with doctors Michael and Ethel Földi. They specialize in treating lymphedema, a swelling problem. The initials behind my name signify that I am a doctor of physical therapy (DPT) and a lymphedema therapist certified through the Földi clinic (CLT-Földi).
LIFESTYLE
The most important thing in my life is my family. I live with my husband, Eric and our dog, Salish, in Port Angeles, Washington, a few hours from Seattle. We are lucky to spend time with our siblings and their children. We enjoy exploring our area, walking on the beach, and hiking with our dog. I love to cook, read, watch movies, play board games, and look at the stars. When I make the time, I also enjoy singing, playing the piano, violin, and guitar.
